Back to School

I think this might have been the first year that I have not had a tear or two seeing the kids off to school. I will say it was difficult getting back into the swing of things getting the kids ready, backpacks and snacks packed, making sure everyone has everything as we head out the door and leaving me enough time to get to work on time, alas everything went without a hitch for the morning at the Keller house - I wish I could say the same for Youth Commission (the kids daycare) as they forgot to send the group to breakfast the first day.....kids said they were pretty hungry by the time lunch came!
Both of the kids are excited about the teachers they have and the friends that they get to see again. Justin is in the third grade this year and seems optomistic that that this might be the best year yet, Kayla is in the 2nd grade and loves her new teacher and the fact that one of her good friends from first grade is also in the same class. Here's to a great 2008/2009 school year!!

Memorial Weekend

We spent a very busy weekend with friends and family enjoying the "last" weekend of summer before school begins and as the saying goes, we wish we could fit more in each weekend.

On Saturday we spent the day with Missy and Jason Larson at Missy's parents home on Battle Lake; the boys went out tubing while us girls stayed back on shore collecting sea shells, rocks and creating great friendships. We had a great time and can't wait to join them again.

Sunday we packed up again and joined Jason Keller and his family at Silver lake for a picnic and fun in the water. This time we not only went tubing but Jason brought along a jet ski that Justin thinks is the most fun he has ever had on the water.

Monday came all to quick but we insisted on making the most of our last day knowing there were things we also had to do that were more of an indication that summer has come to an end for us. The list grows but we did take down the pool and packed it up for hopefully one more summer next year. Justin and Carter had a great time today with a frog that was found on Sunday; they made it it's own house and with help from dad made trailer hitches so they could pull it around on the back of thier bikes showing it the neighborhood. We didn't see much of Kayla today, she spent most of her day in and out of the neighborhood friends houses trying to stay cool and not get blown away by the wind.

Tomorrow is back to school for the kids and despite their comments it does appear that there is a little excitement amongst them as they pack up their backpacks and pick out the the clothes that they want to wear.
Stay tuned for highlights of their first day later this week!
